Summer Pedestrian Streets 2021

A sure sign that summer is approaching is when various streets throughout Stockholm turn into pedestrian streets for a few months. The city has been doing this for a few years now and it has proven quite popular. Makes for a more vibrant city in the summer. Not only is it nice just to stroll up these streets, do some people watching and enjoy the light, Swedish summer evenings... but the cafés and restaurants on these streets take advantage of the extra space and open up large outdoor seating areas.

One of these streets, Swedenborgsgatan, is located just around the corner from Hotel Rival. A nice seasonal addition to the neighborhood! Here you will find a wide variety of food & drink establishments, like cafés (Johan & Nyström), wine bars (Dryck), pubs (Half Way Inn), Bakeries (Petrus) and restaurants (Bistro Süd, Morfar Ginko, Da Luigi). The pictures in this post are from Swedenborgsgatan.

The other streets in the city that turn into summer pedestrian streets are Skånegatan, Drottninggatan, Gamla Brogatan, Hornsbergs strand, Malmskillnadsgatan, Norra Agnegatan, Nybrogatan and Rörstrandsgatan. Two of my favorites, that often visit each summer, are Skånegatan and Rörstrandsgatan! Besides these streets, the city also fixes up various squares and parks with extra seating and decorations... all in order to take advantage of the beautiful Swedish summer weather. See the full list of squares, pop-up parks and streets by clicking here (Swedish website).
