Restaurant Ricordi

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to try a new restaurant that recently opened in Stockholm... Ricordi. Gorgeous interior design, delicious Italian cuisine and a great location! Even though restrictions are currently in place (number of guests per table, spacing between guests and opening hours), it is a good sign that things are getting better that they decided to open their doors in May and that it was relatively busy on a Monday evening with curious Stockholmers.

The restaurant describes their interior design as "vintage Italian glamour" and does indeed have the vibe of a beautiful villa in Veneto. The dining room at the entrance, with connecting bar, is light and airy with big picture windows facing the street, while the interior dining room is more intimate with dark wood details and views into the semi-open kitchen. There is, of course, also an outdoor terrace during the summer months. All through the restaurant they also have beautiful, colorful ceiling paintings.

I would describe the cuisine as modern Italian. Simply put... a creative usage of fresh Italian ingredients in dishes that are more exotic than the ones that have been done to death in every Italian restaurant around the world (i.e. Spaghetti Bolognese). We started with some small appetizers to share: fresh baked focaccia with grated parmesan and a frito misto. We both had pasta for our main course... my friend had the Pappardelle with veal, porcini mushrooms and truffles while I opted for the Agnolotti with shrimps, lemon ricotta, artichokes and shellfish butter. It was all very good and paired with nice Italian wines. I wish I could write what we had for dessert but, to be honest, we were too stuffed to eat any. Though the dessert menu looked really good. Next time!

As I mentioned earlier, Ricordi has a great location right across the street from the central park Kungsträdgården and just half a block from the main department store NK. The easiest way to get to Ricordi from Hotel Rival is by subway (red line to Östermalmstorg), otherwise it is just a 30 minute walk or 5-7 minutes by taxi/Uber. I would recommend booking a table in advance on their website. If you will be staying at the Hotel Rival, you can contact me directly for assistance.
