Waterfront Promenade

Beauiful boats moored along Strandvägen.

With the second wave of the pandemic here and new restrictions in place, I haven't had much to write about in my blog. Especially as I am have been keeping isolated when not working. During the first wave this spring/summer, I did do a lot of nice walks around the city and wrote about them here. Of course, it is much easier to spend longer periods of time outdoors during the warmer seasons... but you can still take some nice, pandemic-friendly walks this time of year, especially when we have a glorious, sunny day. Always a great way to enjoy Stockholm's beauty.
Djurgården waterfront

Thankfully, we had such a day this week, so a friend and I took advantage of this and took a long waterfront walk to enjoy the sights. We took the Djurgård ferry from Gamla Stan, across the harbor to Djurgården island (just a ten minute ride). Then we walked along the waterfront, past the Vasa Museum, Nordic Museum and Junibacken, to the bridge leading over to the mainland. We then followed the waterfront, along the boulevard Strandvägen, back to the downtown area before passing by the Royal Opera House and across the bridge back to Gamla Stan (old town).

Nordic Museum

This is a great walk to do as you not only get some of the best views in Stockholm, but you also pass by some very spectacular architecture as well as beautiful boats lining the waterfront. I didn't really time our walk, but it didn't take more than an hour. Make sure you bundle up this time of year. Even if it is a sunny day, it can get a little chilly along the water. If you are staying at the Hotel Rival, stop by and talk directly with my colleagues and I for other recommendations for walks in the Stockholm.
